In 2014, Independent Bookstore Day set up a contest for a logo for their organization (and the accompanying day), and subsequently chose my design. The day celebrates independent brick-and-mortor bookstores and encourages people to visit them, in person, by offering in-store-only items like limited edition Neil Gaiman coloring books or authors as booksellers/bartenders. From their website, "In a world of tweets and algorithms and pageless digital downloads, bookstores are not a dying anachronism. They are living, breathing organisms that continue to grow and expand. In fact, there are more of them this year than there were last year. And they are at your service."
